Traditional Lomi Lomi begins with a prayer. Lomilomi is known as the spiritual massage because of this. Lomi Lomi is the Hawaiian word for massage. This healing massage has been handed down through Hawaiian families for generations and is deeply healing and nurturing. At Frangipani House Lomi-Lomi can be given by a single practitioner or the more traditional way of male and female practitioners working together. The Hawaiian people view all aspects of the body as one and believe that the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual are all part of the "whole self". Lomi Lomi assists the person to reconnect areas of the body that were once disconnected. To connect with spirituality, the body, and emotions. Lomi Lomi is a celebration of life & a merging of matter & spirit. Some people say at times they feel as though the ocean were cradling them, or that they felt as light as air during the massage. During the session, the practitioner enters into a space of oneness with the client. The Lomi practitioner uses a special breath technique. As the practitioner breathes with the client, there seems to be a feeling of flow where time stands still and only the moment exists. Tension, stress and emotional upset can be released. When a Lomi Lomi practitioner massages your body, it is done with compassion, love, non-judgment and respect. The Lomi Lomi Practitioner aims to give the massage from the place of a totally loving, nurturing mother-father figure.
